Visa Types

Short Term Visa
All applications have to be made in person by the applicant in order to complete the biometric enrolment process.
All applicants must fully comply with relevant documentation required for
respective visa categories. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Those applying for short-stay Schengen visas are advised to submit their application at the Czech Republic Visa
Application Centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
The applicant’s decision to apply at VFS Global is voluntary and they have the right to visit the Embassy directly.
The convention implementing the Schengen Agreement came into force on 26 March 1995. The Schengen countries require visitors to obtain a common visa, which permits entry into the Area. The Schengen countries have reached agreements with each other on entry requirements and a common Visa Application Form.
Important information:
Update for Belarus and Russian nationals before applying for the Czech Republic Visa- The Czech Republic continues to accept a limited scope of visa applications from citizens of Russia and Belarus. Please note that the Authorities of Czechia are temporarily recognizing new type of Syrian passports issued after 20 August 2023, provided they were additionally signed and stamped by the Syrian Consulate. New type of Syrian passports issued in 2024 with a signature of bearer can be accepted. In case of any doubts, please contact Czech Embassy.
Schengen visa must be obtained from the Embassy/Consulate of the country where the main purpose of travel lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before submitting your application. In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the one where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the duration of stay is the same in more than one Schengen country during the first trip, you must submit your visa application at the Embassy/Consulate of your first point of entry.
Please book appointments well in advance depending on your intended date of travel to avoid any inconvenience. Applications cannot be submitted earlier than six (6) months before the travel date. Please refer to the processing time specific to this Mission.

If you are a family member of an EU citizen, you do not need to provide supporting documents. However, you have to prove your status of a family member of an EU citizen by providing a document confirming the identity of the EU citizen and your family relationship to him/her.

The photograph should be:
- of standard passport photo size (35x45 mm),
- must be of a high quality,
- taken against a plain light background,
- not older than 6 months,
- showing you looking directly at the camera with your eyes open.
Please attach the photograph to the application form with glue (do not staple it).
Your face must be clearly visible for a photograph to be taken. Ensure that your hair does not cover the eyes, or wear a hat or scarf or any other item that hides the face, hair or neck (with the exception of religious head coverings detailed below).
- If you wear a head or neck accessory for religious reasons, clear visibility of your facial features from the bottom of your chin to the top of your forehead and both edges of your face must be ensured.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photograph provided does not meet these requirements, your application will be considered incomplete.

If you apply less than 15 days before the journey, your application may not be processed in time. We suggest that you plan your trip and apply for visa well in advance, as in peak seasons we may not be able to offer you an appointment to submit your application immediately.
As a legal rule, a decision on a visa application is taken within 15 calendar days. This period may, in individual cases, be extended to up to 30 days and, exceptionally 60 days, if a more detailed examination of your application and/or additional documents are required.
