- The Embassy reserves the right to call on applicants for interview if further details or documents are required.
- Visa applicants must submit their application in person and enroll their biometric (fingerprints) at the time of submission if they are 12 years old and above.
- Applications for visas require 5 days for Kuwaiti nationals and minimum 30 days for all other nationalities (kindly check upon submission). Note: It is recommended that you apply early, as processing period could take longer than the usual processing time.
- Applicants can choose to lodge visa applications directly at the Embassy of Hungary in Kuwait. For appointment, please contact the Hungarian Embassy.
- Before applying, please ensure you are clear on your purpose of visit. Do remember we are here to assist and help you the entire visa application process but we are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. Since our work is primarily administrative in nature, we have no say on whether you will be granted a visa and how long it will take to process, as this is entirely the prerogative of the Embassy / Consulate of Hungary in Kuwait.
- The possession of a visa does not confer an automatic right of entry and the holders of the visas are requested to present proof that fulfills the entry conditions at the external border. Visa holders should carry with them supporting documents to demonstrate that they fulfill the conditions of entry, so that they can present them, if needed, during the checks at the EU border.
- In case of refusal, the decision of the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Hungary in Kuwait will be given in a standardized written form in which you will get information as to why your application was rejected. From the day you received the decision you can submit a written appeal no later than 8 calendar days. You may be requested to provide further supporting documents to appeal procedure. The appeal must be presented in person at the Visa Section of the Embassy of Hungary in Kuwait.
Once received by the Visa Application Centre, applications will be sent to the Embassy of Hungary in Kuwait the next working day & the applicant will be given an appointment for a personal Interview (if needed) with the Embassy of Hungary in Kuwait. Once the assessment is completed by the Embassy, the decision together with the passport & the other relevant documents will be available for collection from the Visa Application Centre.
Visa is valid to visit all the Schengen States. Only Kuwait nationals and nationals of third countries that are legal residents in Kuwait can apply for a visa at the Hungary Visa Application Centre in Kuwait. Visa applicants are requested to appear in person at the time of submission.
Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted.
Visa fees and Service fees are non-refundable and have to be paid only in cash or knet at the time of application
If the visit involves two or more Schengen countries, the Embassy responsible for the issuance of the visa will be:
- The Embassy of the country in which the traveler is going to stay the longest.
- If the traveler is to stay the same time in different Schengen countries, the Embassy of the country of first entry.
Applicant’s lack of Travel plan will not fall on Embassy priority to process your visa. It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience

Documents Required
Please check the list of requisite documents before submitting your application. This will minimize chances of rejection of your Visa Application due to incorrect or inadequate documents.
- Original duly completed and signed
- Original passport with at least 2 empty pages along with passport copy
- 1 recent passport size photograph (white background) – ICAO compliant
- Original or copy of Travel Insurance. (Covering the territory of the Member states of the Schengen agreement and with minimum coverage of EUR30, 000 for medical expenses).
- Confirmed flight reservations/booking (with either booking reference or ticket number).
- Proof of accommodation (Confirmed hotel reservations / Certificate of the travel agency of the prepaid program duly signed and stamped by an authorized person of the agency, In the case of an individual visit the reservation of accommodation (hotel reservation) provided that you paid a deposit or have to pay a cancellation fee / (If owning a property in Hungary) Copy of Title Deed and any bill not older than 1 year for the same property / Invitation letter (with attached passport copy and accommodation proof).
- For minors travelling with or without parents: Birth certificate of minor translated into English (preferably from translation offices).
- For non-GCC nationals:
- Original employment certificate referring to the permission granted for leave duly signed and stamped by an authorized person of the business entity.
- Updated and recent salary certificate.
- Educational institution enrolment certificate referring to the permission granted for leave duly signed and stamped by an authorized person of the institution if the travel is taking place during the academic year.
- Original bank account statement of the applicant or in case of student his/her sponsor’s for the last six month duly signed and stamped by an authorized person of the bank.
- Original certificate of registration in case of self-employed duly signed and stamped by an authorized person.
- Kuwait residence permit must be valid for 3 months upon exiting the Schengen area.

Photo Specifications
Applicants are requested to submit their application form with the new photo format, as explained below:
General
The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
- Use plain light-coloured background.
- The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
- Not tilted picture (portrait style) showing both edges of face clearly.
- Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
- Photo in sharp focus and clear.
Photo Size
The photo for each visa applicant must measure:
- The picture dimensions must be 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high at least. A smaller picture will be rejected. For instance, a photo being 235 pixels by 320 pixels is not valid.
- On the other hand, the photo should keep a proportion of 3 x 4 (width x height) within limits. However, 250 x 340 pixels picture would be valid, but not a 290 x 340 pixels one.
- Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 120 Kbytes.
Resolution
- An image resolution is measured in DPI (dots per inch) and it's mainly used to control printing quality. Therefore, higher resolution means better printing quality.
- Photos resolution should be 300 dpi, so, when you scan the image, check this parameter carefully. However, bear in mind that the higher the resolution, the bigger the picture.
Resolution
- The only image format accepted is JPEG (Join Photograph Expert Grup Format). The other image formats such as BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG, etc. will be rejected (a warning will be shown).
Note : If children are traveling with their parents and are included inside the passport of the mother and/or the father, one photograph for each children MUST be glued to the application form of the father or the mother, depending on whom are they traveling with.

Processing Time
- Under normal circumstance, applications for Kuwait passport holders can be processed within 5 working days
- Other nationalities will take approximately 30 days.
- As per the guidelines of the Embassy of Hungary in Kuwait, applications submitted on the last 2 working days of the month will be sent to embassy on 1st working day of next month. Hence, processing time may increase for applications submitted on these 2 days.
- The above period does not guarantee that applications will be processed within that certain duration; the period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member state are consulted.
Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.

Overview
- This type of visa is applicable for those who travel on business.
- This visa does not allow the visa holder to work in Hungary apart from the purpose stated at the time of application.
- It allows the citizens of Kuwait to travel to Hungary and stay for a limited period of time of not more than 90 days in a 6 months period from the date of the first entrance into the country.

- The Embassy reserves the right to call on applicants for interview if further details or documents are required.

- Original application form duly completed and signed.

- 1 recent passport photograph (white background) – Not older than 6 months
- Original or copy of Travel/Medical Insurance covering the territory of the Member states of the Schengen agreement and with minimum coverage of EUR 30, 000 for medical expenses.
- Proof of Accommodation:Pre-arranged accommodation. Reservation of accommodation is accepted provided that you paid a deposit or have to pay a cancellation fee. Please note that proof of prearranged accommodation has to be presented even if it is arranged or covered by the Hungarian business partner.
- Confirmed flight reservations/booking (with either booking reference or ticket number).
- Original employment certificate duly signed and stamped by an authorized person of the business entity. (Note: Original certificate of registration in the case of the self-employed duly signed and stamped by an authorized person).
- Original bank account statement of the applicant for the last six month duly signed and stamped by issuing bank.
- For non-GCC nationals: Kuwait residence permit must be valid for 3 months upon exiting the Schengen area.

In order for you to be eligible to a more favorable visa procedure as a family member of a national of a European Union Member State, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway or Switzerland (hereafter: EEA citizens) you are requested to provide evidence that:

Your close family member who is EEA citizen (including Hungarian nationals) is visiting or returning to Hungary. Close family members are:
- the spouse;
- the partner with whom the EEA citizen has contracted a registered partnership, on the basis of the legislation of any EEA country, if the legislation of the host Member State treats registered partnership as equivalent to marriage;
- the direct descendants who are under the age of 21 or are dependent as well as those of the spouse or partner as defined above; or
- the dependent direct relatives in the ascending line and those of the spouse or partner as defined above.
- You are actually traveling or joining with your close family member to his/her trip to Hungary.

- This visa is intended for applicants travelling to visit Hungary for the purpose of undergoing/receiving medical treatment. This visa does not allow the visa holder to work in Hungary apart from the purpose stated at the time of application.

- Only applicants travelling within the next 3 months (90 days) can submit their application.
- Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted; and the visa application can only be processed upon receipt of ALL documents required by the Embassy (see List of required documents).
- Visa fees are non-refundable and have to be paid only in cash at the time of submission.
