Applicants may submit their applications at the nearest VFS Global visa application Centre. they may also submit their visa applications at The Embassy /Consulate General.
You can submit your application at the earliest 180 days before you planned visit. Apply as far in advance as possible, especially during the peak season. Usually, you get a decision within 15 days.
A visa can be granted for between 1 and 90 days. You have to make use of these days within a given time frame of six months at the most (period of validity).
How many days you are allowed to stay in the Schengen area, and for how long altogether, is stated on the visa sticker attached to your travel document.
If you need to travel to Sweden often, you can ask to be given several entries. “Multiple-entry visas with long validity may be issued for one, two or multiple entries. The Visa Code sets out rules on the issuing of multiple entry visas with a progressively longer length of validity:
1 year, if the applicant has used three visas within the previous 2 years;
2 years, if the applicant has already used a 1-year multiple-entry visa within the previous 2 years;
5 years, if the applicant has already used a 2-year multiple-entry visa within the previous 3 years.”
A visa does not automatically mean you can enter the Schengen area. Entry checks are always made at external border points. So it is a good idea to bring along copies of the documents you submitted when applying for a visa. Border controls may result in your being denied entry.
It is the embassy or consulate that decides whether you are to be granted a visa. In certain cases, the matter is referred to the Swedish Migration Board for a decision.
Read more about visa applications in the menu on the left and on the Migration Agency.

Tourist

Overview
For tourists, Sweden is a country rich in opportunities; from the Arctic beauty of the North with its midnight sun, to the castles of the southernmost province Skåne with its more continental flavor. Visitors to Northern Sweden can experience the frozen thrills of the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi, dog sledging, ice fishing, snowmobiling and more. Further South, visitors can enjoy the 1,680 miles of coastline with tens of thousands of islands to explore, or a trip back in time on a cruise on the Göta Canal aboard a vintage steamboat.
Stockholm, the beautiful capital of Sweden, has been labeled "Beauty on water", but it is also a city for fashion, design and trends. The American magazine Newsweek recently lableled Stockholm
Europe's Internet capital"; a city characterized by "hot IPO's and cool clubs!
Sweden is also a place to experience colorful folkloric festivals such as the Midsummer Celebration (end of June) and sophisticated art events. There are Opera companies in several Swedish cities, and outside Stockholm, 18th Century Opera can be experienced at the Drottningholm Royal Theatre and at the Confidencen Theatre. In the major cities, there are also many important art museums. The Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm has one of the greatest collections of American pop art anywhere in the world.
Sweden is also a place to experience a unique kitchen based on fresh produce from the forests and the sea. Sweden brought the world the smorgasbord, the gravlax and meatballs, but the Swedish kitchen has a much broader appeal. Over the last decade, Swedish chefs have been extremely successful internationally. In October, 2000, the Swedish national team of chefs won the Olympic Games in Cooking. Their cuisine can be sampled at restaurants and inns all over the country.
Visit Sweden is the official website for tourists and your gateway to all that Sweden has to offer as a year-round holiday destination. Visit the site for useful travel and tourist information.
