Overview
If you are planning a short visit to Hungary for up to 90 days or less and you do not have the nationality of one of the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), you may need to apply for a Schengen visa. Hungary is one of the 26 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them. These countries also issue a common visa, the Schengen visa for a stay of up to 90 days in any period of 180 days. Please note that the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa.
- Passport should have at least two blank pages.
- Passport should be valid for at least 3 months from the date on which the applicant intends to leave the SCHENGEN territory, or, in the case of multiple journeys the date on which the applicant intends to leave it for the last time
- Applications are only accepted within 3 months of the requested date of arrival
- Relevant Forms & Photograph: Fully completed application form appropriate to the type of visa
- Application will be accepted only until 15 days (excluding Visa Application Center handling time) before the date of travel.
The collection of passports at the Visa Application Center can be done by :
- The applicant himself or
- A representative carrying a photo id of himself/herself and an authority letter from the applicant.
IMPORTANT
Applications can be lodged earliest six (6) months before the planned trip.
Visas are not issued on the day of the application and may take up to 4 weeks, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member State are consulted. Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period for the decision may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.
Holders of Schengen visas are still subject to immigration control at the point of entry and are not guaranteed entry into any of the Schengen countries.

Applicants applying at the Hungarian Visa Application Centre shall be levied a service charge of 1508 EGP.

- The Visa fee & service charges are non-refundable in case the visa is refused.

VFS service charge:
Apart from the visa fee, a VFS service charge in EGP 1508 (for submission with biometrics) inclusive of VAT per application will be levied for applicants applying at the visa application Centre.(the VFS service charge is changeable based on the euro rate and can be changed without any notifications, and the difference amount can be paid or refunded on the same day of submission).

Documents Required

- Filled and signed Schengen visa application form,
- with two photos,
- flight reservations with the name of the applicants,
- accommodation reservation with the name of the applicants,
- insurance covering the stay period in Schengen,
- if the applicant is under the age of 18, consent letter and passport copies from parents,and original birth certificate translated into English.
- school registration for the students / HR. letter with monthly salary for the employees / company registration and tax card for entrepreneurs
- bank statement with transactions for last 6 months with a closing balance not less than 25.000EGP per applicant (for the students who are under the age of 18, we would need a bank statement from one of their parents, and letter from the parents that they are willing to cover the costs for the child)
- Mugamma shahadat at-taharrukat if this is the applicant’s first Schengen visa even if the applicant is under the age of 18 .(UK is not Schengen),
- Proof of the applicant’s family ties and marital status through an extract of the Kid Aely family register.

The documents are only accepted in English or with an English / Hungarian translation. In Schengen Visa cases all licensed English translating offices are accepted.
There is no need to translate any document If it’s originally issued in English.

If not only Hungary is the visited country, the following rules should apply:
- The applicant should stay more days in Hungary than in any other country

If the applicant stays the same days in Hungary and any other country, the place of entry should be Hungary.
If these conditions are not fulfilled, the application cannot be accepted.
- If Hungary isn’t the only destination, applicant would need to provide proper detailed travel plan.

If the minor travels without his/her legal guardian: consent of the parental authority
(both parents) or legal guardian shall be provided either through a notarised certificate or by a form signed at the consulate premises.
- If minor is travelling with one of his/her legal guardian: consent of the parental authority parents not travelling with their minor child) or legal guardian shall be provided either through a notarised certificate or by a form signed at the consulate premises.

Photo Specifications
Please provide two recent photographs (not more than 6 months old) of yourself. The photographs should be in color and:
- Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background
- Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling (without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background).
- Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.
Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. Photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre.

Processing Time
Note: The processing time for assessment of a Schengen visa varies accordingly to the nationality of the applicant and the period of the year in which the application is given. The regular visa processing time is 15 days upon completion of the application, the processing time may be extended to 30 or even 60 days calendar days, in cases that require a detailed assessment.
Applicant’s lack of travel plan will not fall on Embassy / Representative Office priority to process your visa. It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

Photo Specifications
1 photo must be:
- no more than six months old
- in colour
- sized as for passports (35-40 mm wide)
- harp, clear and of good quality
- full-face (showing the entire head and the top of the shoulders)
- White Background photo is required
- Glasses are permitted, provided that that the eyes remain clearly visible and there is no reflection in the lenses.
- Head-dress is permitted only for religious reasons, provided that all facial details are still clearly visible and the head-dress does not cast any shadow over the face.
- The photograph for visas must satisfy the requirements listed above. If those are not met, the applicant will be asked to present new photos.

Overview
If you are planning a short visit to Hungary for up to 90 days or less and you do not have the nationality of one of the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), you may need to apply for a Schengen visa. Hungary is one of the 26 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them. These countries also issue a common visa, the Schengen visa for a stay of up to 90 days in any period of 180 days. - Passport should have at least two blank pages.
- Passport should be valid for at least 3 months from the date on which the applicant intends to leave the SCHENGEN territory, or, in the case of multiple journeys the date on which the applicant intends to leave it for the last time

Overview
Family members of EEA citizens:
Family members of an EEA citizens should apply at the Embassy, please contact the consular section of Embassy of Hungary directly.
EEA family members are:
- The spouse of EEA citizen;
- The partner of EEA citizen with whom the Union citizen has contracted a registered partnership, on the basis of the legislation of a [EU/EEA] Member State, if the legislation of the host Member State treats registered partnerships as equivalent to marriage and in accordance with the conditions laid down in the relevant legislation of the host Member State;
- The direct descendants of EEA citizen who are under the age of 21 or are dependents and those of the spouse or partner as defined in point (b);

For the family members of EEA citizens facilitations apply regarding the visa procedure if they can provide:

Photo Specifications
1 photo must be:
- no more than six months old
- in colour
- sized as for passports (35-40 mm wide)
- harp, clear and of good quality
- full-face (showing the entire head and the top of the shoulders)
- White Background photo is required
- Glasses are permitted, provided that that the eyes remain clearly visible and there is no reflection in the lenses.
- Head-dress is permitted only for religious reasons, provided that all facial details are still clearly visible and the head-dress does not cast any shadow over the face.
- The photograph for visas must satisfy the requirements listed above. If those are not met, the applicant will be asked to present new photos.

Processing Time
Note: The processing time for assessment of the visa varies accordingly to the nationality of the applicant and the period of the year in which the application is given. The regular visa processing time is 45 days upon completion of the application, the processing time may be extended to 60 calendar days, in cases that require a detailed assessment.
Applicant’s lack of travel plan will not fall on Embassy / Representative Office priority to process your visa. It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

VFS service charge
Applicants applying at the Hungarian Visa Application Centre shall be levied a service charge of 2262 EGP: payable online while booking the appointment

- The Visa fee & service charges are non-refundable in case the visa is refused.
- Below are the additional optional services available at the visa application center at nominal price.
VFS service charge:
Apart from the visa fee, a VFS service charge in EGP 2262 (for submission with biometrics) inclusive of VAT per application will be levied for applicants applying at the visa application Centre.(the VFS service charge is changeable based on the euro rate and can be changed without any notifications, and the difference amount can be paid or refunded on the same day of submission).
