    There is no requirement to transfer a visa from an expired/old passport to a new one.

    If you have a valid multiple entry visa in a cancelled/expired passport, you may enter Japan by presenting both passports (the cancelled/expired one with the valid visa and your current valid passport) at the border.

    However, if you wish, you may request to have the valid visa transferred to your new passport.

  • Visa Fees

    Please note that the visa application centres in Irkutsk and Khabarovsk accept applications only from Russian Federation citizens. Citizens of other countries should apply directly to the Consulate General of Japan in Khabarovsk.

    In all other visa application centres, documents can be accepted from citizens of all countries.

    There is no visa fee for citizens of the Russian Federation; they are required to pay only the service fee. The amount of the service fee may vary depending on the visa application centre where the documents are submitted.

  • Documents Required

    Visa transfer application form

      one copy is required, completed in English without any omissions or errors.

    1. Photo 3.5cm x 4.5cm
    2. International passport — original document.
    3. Copy of the international passport — page with personal data and photograph.
    4. Cancelled international passport — original document.
    5. Copy of the cancelled international passport
    6. — page with photograph and personal data, plus a copy of the valid visa

      Please note!

      The application will not be accepted if all required documents are not submitted.

    7. If the visa application form or any submitted documents contain information that does not correspond to reality, the visa will be denied. In such cases, you will not be able to re apply for 6 months from the date the refusal is issued.
    8. Documents should normally be submitted in original form, except where specific instructions indicate otherwise.
    9. Do not staple or clip documents together.
    10. Unless otherwise specified, each document should be submitted in one copy only.
    11. Submitted documents will not be returned.
    12. During the application review process, additional documents (beyond those listed above) may be requested.
  • Photo Specifications


    Each applicant must provide a photo when submitting an application without a frame and retouching, with a full image of the face.
    Please submit two photograph along with your visa application. The photograph must be:

    • Not more than 6 months old
    • Size: 3.5 x 4.5
    • Either black-and-white or colored, with plain background
    • Taken looking straight forward and face seen clearly
  • Processing Time

    We recommend you to apply at least two (2) weeks before the planned trip. Some applications may require further processing. Please note that all applications are processed individually. The Consulate General of Japan in Khabarovsk may request further documentation, information or you may be called for an interview which can prolong the processing time.

  • Download Forms

    Please submit TWO completed Visa Application form and check list along with your application.

    Please Note:

    • Application Form must be completed only in English or Japanese.
    • Other supporting forms or documents may be prepared in any of English, Japanese.
