Overview
A Tourist visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Luxembourg for a limited period of time (up to 90 days). This category of visa caters to people wishing to visit Luxembourg for touristic purposes either through buying a tour or through self-bookings of tickets and hotel.
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.
Please note that applications can be lodged as early as, but no more than 6 months before the intended travel date, and no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the intended visit.

Schengen visa must be obtained from the Embassy/Consulate of the country where the main purpose of travel lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before submitting your application. In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the one where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the duration of stay is the same in more than one Schengen country during the first trip, you must submit your visa application at the Embassy/Consulate of your first point of entry.
Please book appointments well in advance depending on your intended date of travel to avoid any inconvenience. Applications cannot be submitted earlier than six (6) months before the travel date. Please refer to the processing time specific to this Mission.

· National form for proof of sponsorship (not older than 6 months) and/or accommodation.
· Valid international credit card accompanied by bank statements.

Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or proof of rental/ownership of real estate in the Member State of destination or confirmation of private accommodation, mentioning that the host will cover the accommodation costs).

Minors

Minors under the age of 18 travelling without their parents/legal guardian have to provide an original authorisation signed by their parents/legal guardian in front of a visa officer or duly legalised and copy of passport(s) of parents/legal guardian.

Photo Specifications
A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up-to-date photograph (dated max 6 month old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be sized between 35 – 45 mm
- Full face taken straight forward 30 - 36 mm from point of the chin to top of hair
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be shut
- Applicants should clearly write their name and surname on the back of their photographs

General requirements
Schengen application form duly filled, dated and signed by the applicant.
1 recent passport size photograph (size 35mm x 45mm) in color on white background. The photo should be pasted (not stapled) on the form.
National passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the date of return and with at least 2 blank pages available + 1 copy of the data page of the passport and copies of previously Schengen visas.
Travel dates (reservation or booking; presentation of a paid ticket is not required).
Proof of family relationship
Proof of family relationship with the EU/EEA/Swiss national with whom you are travelling or whom you will visit: An official copy of a birth certificate, marriage certificate or certificate of registered partnership (either legalized or issued with an apostille).
Proof that your family member is using or has recently used his/her right to free movement: Luxembourg residence permit of your EU/EEA/Swiss family member.
Proof that the applicant is accompanying or joining an EU/EEA/Swiss national: common travel reservation or EPC or sworn statement that the applicant is accompanying or joining an EU/EEA/Swiss national.
If the applicant is a dependant (child over the age of 21 or parent): proof of the status of dependant must be provided (regular and substantial financial contribution from the EU/EEA/Swiss national to the maintenance and/or education).
Minors
In case of a minor travelling alone or with only 1 parent:
- A legalized official copy of the minor’s birth certificate.
- Power of attorney, certified by a notary, from both parents or by the parent who is not travelling with the child, except in cases of a parent having sole custody, in which a court order or other proof of sole custody must be provided.
- Copy of identification documents of the parent(s) having custody, bearing their signature.

A Business visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Luxembourg for a limited period of time (up to 90 days). This category of visa caters for people wishing to visit Luxembourg for business reasons but does not allow carrying out a professional activity.
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.
Please note that applications can be lodged as early as, but no more than 6 months before the intended travel date, and no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the intended visit.

OR Letter issued by authorities confirming identity of the applicant(s), purpose of the journey (meetings, consultations, negotiations or events held by intergovernmental organizations), period of intended stay and accommodation details.

- Applicants who already have the original authorization to stay and/or letter issued by the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg must present the following documents: Individuals travelling under the Work/Employment category (D type) must fill their actual or previous employer details in the application form.

- One set of Documents (original) required.

- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be shut
- Applicants should clearly write their name and surname on the back of their photographs
Please note that the Visa application Centre may not accept photographs that do not meet these specifications. In case photos are not meeting the requirements mentioned above Submission Officer might ask to provide updated / recent photos

Processing Time
As a rule, the processing time of an admissible Schengen visa application should not exceed 15 calendar days (from the date the application is received at the Embassy).
