Overview

When you apply for a visa, the application will be forwarded to the SwedenEmbassy in Bangkok for processing. All cases are considered individually to see if the conditions for granting a visa are fulfilled

Only seamen who are nationals from a country which is required to have a valid visa to enter the Schengen space need to apply for a seamen transit visa and if they intend to join a ship that is (or will be) in a Schengen port, land with the aim of join another ship that is (or will arrive) in a Schengen port, or land due to sickness, repatriation, holiday and so on.

Documents Required

• Submitted application and supporting documents shall be printed in A4 size.

Photo Specifications

• No more than 6-months old
• 35-40mm in width
• Taken against a light background
• Close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70 -80% of the photograph
• In sharp focus and clear Of high quality with no ink marks or creases

Please be reminded that a photograph with the visa application is only compulsory for:

• children 12 years old and below
  and if the applicant does not appear in person at time of lodgment but have biometrics stored in their previous
• Schengen visa sticker within the last 59 months
• Other applicants are not required to submit a photograph with their application if they do not have one at time of lodgment.

Overview

Tourist visa is granted for those where the intention is to visit Sweden for tourism and sightseeing without having an invitation from a Swedish reference. The applicant who would like to apply for Sweden Visa do not need to book an advance appointment.

Documents Required

Please prepare and arrange documents according to this Checklist , also prepare an additional copy of your Passport ID page for Passport Collection.

Note:

• Applicant can be asked for additional documents or may be called for an interview if deemed necessary by the Embassy.
• The Visa fee, according to Schengen regulations, is non-refundable.
• All Myanmar language documentation shall be accompanied by a translation from an authorized translation bureau.

Visa Fees

Service Charges

Please Note:

• The applicable visa fee in Naira is as per current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice.
• Naira in 500 & above only be accepted
• The visa fee should only be paid at the time of submission of the documents at the Application center.

The following categories of applicants are exempted of Visa fees only:

• Spouse and Dependent Children of EU Nationals (Proof of EU Nationality and relationship with applicants needs to be provided). This is subject to EU treaty rights i.e. Spouse and Dependents cannot exercise this exemption when visiting country of origin of the EU National.
• Children under 6.
  
  

  The Following are also exempt but would require to get confirmation from the Embassy directly before submission

• School pupils, students, post graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purpose of study or educational training
• Researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research
• Representatives of non-governmental organisations who are aged 25 or under, who take part in seminars, conferences, sports events, cultural events or educational events organised by NGOs
• Relatives of citizens of the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland, if they travel together with them or will be meeting them in connection with the trip. Read more about which individuals are counted as relatives on the Swedish Migration Board website. Relatives of Swedish citizens have to pay a fee for visa applications.

• Visa fee needs to be paid by POS in the application center at Lagos and Abuja
• The applicable visa fee in Naira is as per current exchange rate approved by the Embassy. It is subject to change without notice.
• The visa fee & service charges are non- refundable and non- transferable.
• The visa application fee submitted and cancelled on same application day would be refundable but non- transferable.

Documents Required

Here you will find a list of the documents you need to apply for a Schengen visa. Please note that all applications must be submitted in person. No application will be accepted via a representative of any form.

All applicants must submit:

• A completed application form and fully completed Family appendix Questionnaire for Schengen visa. The application form needs to be signed twice (box 37 and below).
• Proof of payment. Some categories are exempt from fee. Special rules apply for spouses of EU/EEA citizens and their children under 21. Please note that relatives and spouses of Swedish nationals must pay a fee to apply for a visa for visiting Sweden.
• Passport, which must be valid for a period of three months after your last day of stay in the Schengen states.
• Two colored copies of your passport data page
• Travel insurance, a one-page document stating that the insurance is to cover medical costs of at least EUR 30,000 and be valid for the whole duration of stay and in all Schengen states.
• Bank statements for the last three months (no older than two weeks at the time of submission), proving capacity to support yourself during your whole stay, if you are paying for your upkeep yourself. If another person is supporting your stay, a letter from the person should be attached, stating the same,
• Round-trip travel itinerary specifying entry and exit dates from the Schengen state.
• A signed letter from your from your employer stating continuing employment after period of leave and duration of vacation. The visa for the final country of destination (if needed) must be obtained before applying for a Schengen visa.

For children under 18:

• Copies of parents'/legal guardians' identification card(s)
• A child under 18 applying for a visa without parents, or with only one parent, must additionally submit; Parental written consent. If only one parent has guardianship of the minor, the court documents stating this must be presented.
• If the applicant is in the care of a guardian other than the parents, proof of the Court’s appointment must accompany the application.
• If a parent is deceased, his or her death certificate must accompany the application
• Documentation from school confirming attendance.
• Application form must be signed by at least one parent/legal guardian (Question 37 and after the declaration).

For family member of EU/EEA citizen:

• A family member of a EU/EEA citizen that travel together with the EU/EEA citizen, or to meet the citizen at destination are exempted from visa fee, travel insurance and bank statements. Swedish citizens are not considered EU/EEA citizens in this context and will need to provide all documents.
• The family member needs to provide a certified copy of marriage certificate/ birth certificate and a certified copy of the passport for the EU/EEA citizen.
• If a family member or EU/ EEA citizen are travelling without the family member and they are not going to meet at destination, all usual documentation is needed when applying for a visa.

Visit to family or friends:

If you are going to visit relatives or friends you must submit:

• Invitation and questionnaire concerning a person who wishes to visit you in Sweden. English form no 237011 Click Here

Travelling as a tourist:

If your purpose of travel is tourism you must submit:

• A hotel reservation.
• In case of a pre-paid tour, please provide the details of the tour with proof of payment to the tour operator.

Travelling on business and Conferences:

• If you intend to travel on business or attend a conference you must submit:
• A fully completed application form, Family appendix Questionnaire and business Appendix form for Schengen visa. The application form needs to be signed twice (box 37 and below).
• A signed invitation from the company inviting you or the person arranging the conference and a letter from your company. Both letters should contain information on your personal details, your reason for visiting Sweden, how long you will stay and who is responsible for your upkeep.
• If you apply for a one-year visa with multiple entries, both your company and the inviter must state the reason why you need this visa.
• Additional documents and/or a personal interview with the applicant may be requested at any time.

Non-Nigerian citizens:

• Valid Nigerian resident permit.

Photo Specifications

Photo Appearance

• The photograph must be a full-face front view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly.
• Face should cover about 60-70 percent of the photo area.
• The photograph MUST be in color and have only a white background. Photos with dark, busy, or patterned backgrounds will not be accepted.
• General, the applicant's head, including both face and hair, should be shown from the crown of the head to the tip of the chin on top and bottom and from hairline side-to-side. It is preferable that ears be exposed
• Photograph depicting a person wearing a traditional facemask or veil that does not permit adequate identification is not acceptable

Processing Time

According to the common Visa Code signed by the Schengen member states, the processing time for an admissible visa application must not exceed 15 calendar days. This period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days in cases where additional documentation or scrutiny is needed. A visa can have one, two or multiple entries depending if you need to travel outside the Schengen area and back again during your visit. If you apply for two or several entries, this must be justified.

Please be informed that unclaimed passports will be kept under safe custody for a stipulated period in consultation with the Embassy, and returned to the Sweden Embassy in Abuja once this has expired

Visa application form has to be completed for all the applicants including minors electronically on your computer or in writing. The VAF has to be filled out in English language only. The form needs to be signed personally by the applicant in the field 37 and on the last page.

For minors, the application must be signed by one of the parents or a legal guardian.
