Requirements for Visa for Family Reunification with EU Citizen

The visa for family reunification with BE citizen (ART 40) is given in request for a Long Stay Visa D in order to join husband/wife or father/mother who is a national of a country of the European Union and who lives in Belgium. As a prior requirement, documents submitted must be legalized first.

Photo Specifications

Please provide one recent photographs (not more than 6 months old) of yourself. The photographs should be in color and:

  • Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background
  • Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
  • Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
  • Full face, non-smiling (without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background).
  • Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. Photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre.

Processing Time

Processing Time : 15 Calendar Days after application is consider admissible. In individual cases, where further scrutiny of the application is needed by the Immigration department in Brussels, the deadline may be extended up to a maximum of 6 months after the application has been considered admissible.
