VISA TYPES
All the photocopies of the documents should be on a white background.
All applicants must fully comply with relevant documentation required for respective visa categories. Incomplete applications may not be accepted.
You may submit your visa application at the nearest VFS Global Belgium Visa Application Centre. Those applying for short-stay Schengen visas (for business, tourism, leisure) are advised to submit their application at the Belgium Visa Application Centre.
The Convention implementing the Schengen Agreement came into force on 26 March 1995. The Schengen countries require visitors to obtain a common visa, which permits entry to the Schengen Area. The Schengen countries have reached agreements with each other on entry requirements and a common visa application form.
The Embassy cannot accept supplementary documents or information by mail, post or fax after the introduction of the visa application. All the documents need to be presented by the applicant on the day the visa application is handed in.
The application will be treated based only on the documents that we received on the day of the submission of the visa application.
If the Embassy would ask for extra documents, these need to be delivered as a hard copy to VFS Global (and not by mail), mentioning always the file number of the applicant, together with 2 copies of the documents for a long stay visa, and 1 copy of the documents for a short term visa.
** For all the types of visa: copy of first page of passport, together with copies of all the pages with visas and/or stamps are mandatory
For Business visa: a copy of the flight and hotel reservation are mandatory, the dates of the hotel and flight reservation need to correspond.
For Family/friends visa: a copy of the flight reservation is mandatory**

Short-term
Schengen Rule
The visa application has to be presented to the Embassy/Consulate of the country of main destination (determined by the purpose of the journey and the length of stay).
If your main destination cannot be ascertained, the Schengen state through which you first enter the territory of these countries is responsible for granting the visa.

Schengen Visa and Visa Code
In order to apply for a Schengen visa, the applicant needs to provide the documents as per the purpose of the trip. In individual cases, additional documents may be requested. Presentation of the documents does not automatically lead to the issuance of a visa and possession of a visa does not confer an automatic right of entry. There is no automatic entitlement or legal right to a Schengen visa. The ultimate decision regarding admission to the Schengen territory lies with the border authorities upon arrival.
The Visa Code standardizes the visa requirements which must be examined by the mission in the course of the visa procedure. The respective mission makes a decision on the visa application at its own discretion, taking into account all the circumstances in any given individual case.
All visa applicants for Belgium are advised to schedule an appointment and visit the Visa Application Centre in Tehran to submit their applications, together with all necessary documents
Processing time for a visa may take up to 15 days. Applicants are therefore requested to organise themselves accordingly taking into consideration possible waiting periods due to the online appointment system.
The purpose of the proposed visit may not be altered once the visa has been issued. This is also applicable after entering the Schengen territory.
Guarantees for return (assessment of migration risk): The applicant is requested to provide as much information as possible to document his/her family background, professional and socio-economic status, ownership of land or real estate (for instance: proof of family bonds with his/her country of origin, proof of regular income and stable source of revenues from the applicant and/or his/her partner, proof of property, etc.)
This information is essential to correctly judge the intention of the applicant to leave the Schengen area before the expiry of his/her visa.

Long-term
National or Long Term Visas (Category D) for Belgium are issued by the Embassy of Belgium in Iran, applications can be submitted only through prior appointments.
The Belgium Embassy is only allowed to issue your visa, if a confirmation has been issued by the Foreign Nationals Authority in Belgium. You will be informed automatically when the residence permit has been authorized.
Your visa can only be issued to you Iran. It cannot be forwarded to Belgium and it cannot be issued in Belgium after your arrival. After your arrival in Belgium you must register as soon as possible with the Foreign Nationals Authority of your place of residence.
Applicants must legalize all translated documents before apply at the visa center.
Please Note :
If you are in category in Long Stay that must pay contribution fee as Dofi , please click on below link :
Fingerprints to be taken for a D-visa from 01 December 2018
This new regulation is compulsory and there are only below exceptions :
- For persons for whom it is physically impossible
- For holders of diplomatic or service passports who are accredited to a diplomatic or consular mission in Belgium or who exercise a function at an international organization which has its seat or representation in Belgium as well as for their family members (partner and children at expense)
As a D-visa is a national visa, the fingerprints and picture will not appear in the VIS system. Therefore they cannot be re-used later for example for the purpose of a C-visa application. This means as well that the fingerprints of a person who already received or applied for a C-visa and whose prints are already in the VIS system cannot be copied for the application of a D-visa.
Personal appearance : after filling in the application form on Visa On web, the applicant’s personal appearance at the VFS Visa Application Center is required in order to register the biometric fingerprints data along with a live photograph. The following applicants are however exempted of the personal appearance :
Applicants for a Long term visa D below 6 years of age
The Embassy cannot accept supplementary documents or information by mail, post or fax after the introduction of the visa application. All the documents need to be presented by the applicant on the day the visa application is handed in.
The application will be treated based only on the documents that we received on the day of the submission of the visa application.
If the Embassy would ask for extra documents, these need to be delivered as a hard copy to VFS Global (and not by mail), mentioning always the file number of the applicant, together with 2 copies of the documents for a long stay visa, and 1 copy of the documents for a short term visa.
