A BVN enrolment underway in Cape Town, South Africa
Upon enrolment, which involves capture of facial and
fingerprint biometric data of applicants, the account
holder receives a unique BVN via SMS within 24-48
hours. Customers need to contact the banks where they
hold accounts and link their BVN to be able to access
their funds.
VFS Global was awarded a contract by Nigeria Inter-
Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) in September 2015, to
set up BVN enrolment centres across five continents,
to enroll the Nigerian diaspora in the US, UK, South
Africa, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Ukraine,
New Zealand, India and Kenya. Due to the nature of
the contract, which required rollouts with high speed
and efficiency, VFS Global leveraged on its vast global
network to expedite the set-up of enrolment centres
within weeks and started enrolment immediately by
appointments. BVN centres remain operational as long
as there is demand. Currently VFS Global BVN centres
are operational in 9 countries.
