Residents of Sri Lanka can now apply for visas to
Australia and the United Kingdom (UK) and enrol their
biometrics at a newly relocated Joint Visa Application
Centre launched in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on
17 November 2016.
The Australia & UK Joint Visa Application Centre was
inaugurated by HE Mr Bryce Hutchesson, Australian
High Commissioner to Sri Lanka & Ambassador
to Maldives, and HE Mr James Dauris, British High
Commissioner to Sri Lanka & Ambassador to Maldives.
Also present at the inauguration were Mr Malik
Samarawickrama, Minister of Development Strategies
and International Trade, Government of Sri Lanka, and
Mr Nihal Ranasinghe, Controller General Department of
Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka, other dignitaries
and officials of the British High Commission in Colombo,
Australian High Commission in Colombo, and the British
Deputy High Commission in Chennai, India.
With a higher number of submission counters and larger
space to accommodate applicants during peak season,
the new centre efficiently caters to the growing number
of travellers to Australia and the UK from Sri Lanka. The
centre’s central location, easily accessible by various
means of public transport further enhances convenience
and ease to applicants.
